life in bloom

So many wonderful things are happening this year! HOORAY! I was just inspired by another artist's blog, who is a textile and pattern design hopeful. Judging by her incredible talent, I don't think she'll have a worry! See Mati Rose McDonough when you have a chance!

I realize that I too must take her advice, and be patient with myself through this process of learning and adjusting to a new career path. 

It is so incredible to see growth in myself creatively. I think I just hit the sweet spot in my work and I'm so thrilled about it!

My illustration work for Pink Light will be shown at Surtex 2010, then hopefully viewable on line on the Pinklight Design website soon after. 

I'll also be offering prints of my pet project (pardon the pun) in the very near future. 

Focusing now on tidying up my online presence, which seems to have become a bit fragmented!

paintings this week....

Here are a few paintings I've been working on this week! I have typically worked on more abstract textural paintings  you can see here but I think working small is best for now. I have been trying to work on my basement studio which is very dark with low ceilings, so I'm not quite as into it. 

Since I moved an additional desk up into my skylight design studio, I am a freak between blogging, surfing, designing, sketching, painting and dreaming!

I laugh when I see the difference between the 3 paintings I'm working on:

Vintage findings

Check out my vintage findings album. I am super crazy about vintage furniture! I have had to reign it in this year like everyone else!

This stuff is from Great Stuff in Sodo Park. I chose this shop to do my class project website design with.

They were really gracious and let me come in and take photos of all the cool stuff! Thanks so much to Kirk and Steve for helping out!

Highlights in the album...The Branch sculpture is made up of thousands of nails....the spinning sculpture is too cheeky, with a nude man chasing a nude woman, L O V E  the fab sculpture of the sitting woman and what to say about the angel with the cypress roots jutting into frame? 

Also quite striking are these doll head molds. Love them! So Artfully Goth...
